When the post player is on the ball side block, it is common for teams to play a three-man game with two perimeter players. The job of the post player is to get position on the block and open a passing lane from the perimeter. The post player seals his defender to one side, high or low, and receives a pass from the perimeter player. If the ball is not thrown to the block the post player will continue to work to get position looking for the entry pass from the perimeter player.
